Let's begin by quickly trying to clear up the long standing question; What is the difference between IDX and RETS? IDX (Internet Data Exchange) was initiated due to a mandate from the NAR (National Association of Realtors) making it required that MLS (Multiple Listing Service) members be able to integrate the MLS listings into their websites for public viewing. An IDX feed is a link that realtors can frame into their websites, and the results of the MLS Database are displayed on the realtors site, but these links are typically updated only once every 24 hours.
The newest attempt by MLS vendors to comply with the mandate is RETS (Real Estate Transaction Standard). This is a live feed with direct access to the MLS database, updating the real estate agent's website almost instantaneously. As you can see, RETS is a n updated, live IDX feed. This IDX feed is the best IDX solution to date. All our real estate IDX websites utilize the latest RETS integration, and the search criteria can be customized in a number of ways to fit your site to your local, and/or niche real estate market. As the RETS development advances, any upgrades are automatically integrated into all our customer web sites.
